Building a Stronger EMS System Together

For 52 years, AEMS has supported regional cooperation to address shared needs and challenges across Maricopa, Pinal, and Gila counties. We bring together fire departments and districts, hospitals and satellite emergency centers, ground and air transport agencies, government agencies, and other organizations involved in emergency care. Through this collaboration, EMCTs, nurses, physicians, and other stakeholders work together to improve EMS and patient care throughout Central Arizona.

As we launch our 2027 Membership Campaign, we invite your organization to join or renew its AEMS membership. Your dues help sustain the education, coordination, collaboration, and resources that make this work possible.

Supporting Access to the Central Regional Guidelines

AEMS funded the development of the new CAREMSG app to support continued access to the Central Regional Guidelines for participating Central Arizona agencies. This investment helps providers access the patient care guidance for prehospital assessment and treatment. It supports consistency in patient care and provides a shared resource for medical directors and EMS provider agencies.

Expanding Pediatric Education Opportunities

AEMS is providing Pediatric Education Scholarships to help Central Region providers attend pediatric conferences and training. We are also developing educational activities and collaborating with EMS stakeholders to expand access to pediatric, obstetric, and neonatal education.

Providing Continuing Education

Through the EMS Odyssey Conference, EMS CE Fall Forum, and Functional Group meetings, AEMS provides education addressing patient assessment, treatment, emerging concerns, and regional EMS needs. These activities bring providers and subject matter experts together to share knowledge that supports patient care.

Rural EMS Support and Advocacy

AEMS works with rural agencies and partners to advocate for provider needs, connect agencies with resources and funding opportunities, and expand access to education and training.

Coordinating the Fair Distribution of Special Funding

AEMS manages special funding initiatives and facilitates processes to distribute available resources fairly, consistent with each funding source’s purpose and requirements. Agency input and identified needs help guide these efforts so that eligible EMS agencies and providers with the greatest need have opportunities to receive support.

Keeping Our Region Connected

Our Functional Group, committees, and Board meetings bring urban and rural stakeholders together to exchange information, discuss challenges, and help shape regional priorities. AEMS also shares training opportunities, funding announcements, guideline updates, and other information providers need.

Supporting Hospital Categorization and Regional Resources

AEMS coordinates the categorization of emergency receiving facilities and maintains the RED Book, our Regional EMS Directory. These resources help prehospital providers understand hospital capabilities, make informed patient destination decisions, and support medical direction, risk management, and quality improvement efforts.

Representing Central Arizona EMS

As the regional EMS coordinating council, AEMS provides a connection between local stakeholders and statewide EMS discussions. We bring attention to regional concerns, support collaboration across organizations, and advocate for Central Arizona EMS needs. Your participation helps ensure that your organization’s experience and perspectives are represented.
